General Manager Liz Scherer

Liz has been on all 7 continents, to 31 different countries, 40 states, and hiked in 34 US National Parks? She swims half a mile every day when the pool is open and walks 4 miles a day when not. This mother of two boys and grandmother of 2 boys and a girl likes to read novels and travel magazines, bake, especially cookies and pies, spend time with family, and is always ready to go anyplace any time. She says - My suitcase gets tired! Liz and Pete have been married 53 years. Sounds like we could get some good advice on a lot of things from Liz! About her years at BACA, Liz says she considers this the best job in the world.

Pool Manager Doug Hesser

Doug was born in Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa. He came to Richmond in 1986 to teach elementary physical education. He teaches at Bellwood Elementary in Chesterfield County. We hired him as our manager in 1989 based on his experience managing pools and coaching swimming during his college years. After his first year he took a course at VCU in pool management and there he learned how to keep our pools clean and the chemicals balanced. He and his wife Marilyn have 3 children all of whom have worked at BACA. Hannah was a lifeguard, coach, and instructor while in college, Matthew is a lifeguard and will be a coach and instuctor this summer, and Seth is a substitute lifeguard. When he can get a couple of days away from BACA he enjoys his beach house on Emerald Isle.
